What types of things will the PetSmart dog training teach my dog?

We just adopted a 1-year-old MinPin/Spaniel mix. She’s a great dog, very playful. She doesn’t bite or get agressive with us (which is grrrrreat!). But she was never trained, and still has a lot of puppy in her. She jumps up (over and over and over again no matter how many times you tell her down or no), barks like crazy at anything and everything that moves (even the neighbors that she’s gotten used to), and will pee/poop in the house if we allow her out of her cage for extended periods of time (even if she’s just come in from outside). I’d also like her to walk a bit better on her leash instead of doing her best to pull me around the block. Will an obedience training like PetSmart’s help with these things, or should I be looking at ways to train her myself?

Does anyone have any experience in training a dog to walk outside of Invisible Fence area to go for a walk?

This is a follow-up question from a previous question I asked about the Invisible Fence. I know for the next while I need to only transport my dog from the yard in my vehicle until I know she is trained. I wanted to know if anyone had any experience on training the dog to leave the yard on a leash to go for a walk. I already think it is going to be difficult to get her to go because she stays away from the flags and sound, but I need to find a way to take her for a walk. Anyone heard of using a towel and have them walk across it? I would carry her across, but she is going to be a big dog.

What do you think about training my dog with his regular food instead of treats?

I’ve recently decided to train my dog (husky/chow/pit mix) with his Nutro dog food. He seems to really love the food. This morning was the first time I trained him with it. It’s not the first /lessons/ of training, however. I trained him since he was 7 weeks. Now he’s 7 months. He knows sit, stay, come, down, wait, up, off, speak, release, and ‘okay’… Of course, he only does them if there are no distractions. He does alright without treats. The only ones he’s really got down packed are ‘release’ and ‘okay’. Still workin’, though. =P So, do you think it’s a good idea to measure his food, and give it to him piece by piece as I work with him on his training? Instead of loading him with treats. I heard it’s not good to give a dog too many treats at one time… What do you think? =)
Heh, I don’t have to worry about him not looking forward to it. xD He loves it as if they actually were treats. =P Of course, I just put him on it, so maybe it will wear off, maybe not. If it does, I could just get a different dog food and use it specifically for training. =P My other dog also loves the Nutro. I thought I’d have one Hell of a time trying to get her back on dry dog food after I had been giving her fresh beef and chicken mixed with her dry food. (I was trying to get her weight back up b/c she had been starved. I rescued her from my friend’s family) But to my surprise, she loved Nutro! xP

I have the most stubborn Golden Retriever. She, Zoe, Turns 1 years old tomorrow on Valentine’s day. ;) I’ve tried clicker training, obedience school…even the dog whistle had no effect on her when I thought the whistle was very powerful to a dog’s ear. So, other than those I’ve mentioned, what is the best training device to use now? Those shock collars? Invisibal fence? WHAT!?? lol. I mean, she is the kind of dog that KNOWS what is wrong but does it anyways behind our back and then hides! LMAO. Thanks.
Oh sorry about that…

She needs help with coming when called, not biting people and other things like trash, chasing and beating up my cat…you know, the usual puppy training.

You know what is funny? She can play dead…that was easy to teach her…but all the others are hard lol
i know north…that is why i am asking for help and not my dog
