Other than some new training, how can I get my dog re-trained for house breaking?

Ever since having my daughter (she’s 6 months old) my dog has been jealous for obvious reasons. Who can blame her? My husband and I do our best to spend time with her and take her out to play but with the baby and working, it’s hard to get real outside playtime in. Even though we walk her she still saves up and pees in the house! We’ve laid down wee-wee pads and she’ll go on them for the most part but usually only makes it half-way on the actual pad. She knows better and I know part of this is her showing us she’s upset with us but I’m tired of having to clean up after her in the house almost every day! I can’t afford to take her to training again or to have someone come by and take her out for fun. Unfortunately there are no doggy daycares in my area or I’d leave her there once or twice a week to see if it’d help. Are there any other techniques we can try to help her stop going in the house? Our yard isn’t fenced in, otherwise we’d leave her out there while we’re out!
We trained her as a puppy on the pads so she knows what they’re for but we recently moved from a home with a fenced yard to a home without one (over the summer). So she’s had time to adjust and has adjusted to this kind of change in the past without problems like this. She’s 100lbs so I really don’t have room for a crate that size in my house.

Does anyone know of any good Dog training schools in NY?

Dandie the Dirty Dog asked:

I’m interested in becoming a dog trainer and have searched in many places (yahoo.com, superpages.com etc…) and couldn’t find much for dog training schools, except for obedience courses for my dog, but that’s not what I want.

Thanks a lot!

Do you ever, out of habit, use dog training techniques on a human?

. asked:

I often find myself trying not to comfort my sister when she is crying thinking,Oh, well dogs don’t understand the meaning of the word comfort! They’ll think your praising them!

But sometimes it works out for the better. Like if she is crying and she is just trying to get her way, I keep my patience and stay firm the same as I would with a dog that was whining for attention.

Dog training class requiring training collar – what do you think?

a gal and her dog asked:

They haven’t met my dog, and didn’t specify what kind of training collar was required. My dog is rather sensitive to corrections, except on-leash ones.

What do you think?
The class is intermediate obedience, and my dog isn’t too sensitive to light corrections (quick tug on the leash, verbal no corrections). I took her for a test run with the choke chain (it was pictured in the brochure with correct instructions) last night and she was fine. If I can find the Martingale we used before I lost it, I think I’ll go with that. Thanks everyone!
