What are the basic commands used in training a puppy or controlling a dog? I’m looking for whoever can come up with the most, best commands. 10 points, people, 10 points.

Well if youre only after basic commands then youre looking at things like come, sit, stay, walking on a lead etc. The real basics of dog training. However, its also fun to teach dogs other tricks like shake, down, roll, crawl, touch etc. If the dog is controlling or youre having a hard time training a puppy then its better to take them to obedience classes or puppy preschool. I take my puppy to puppy pre school and in one session he learnt to sit, touch, shake hands, recognise his name and began socialising with other dogs.

Yo! – it gets their attention and it makes them know I am about to start issuing commands.

Brewskie – grabs me a beer from the fridge.

Let’s Rock! – time to play.

    Evade – roll over

Who farted? – runs and hides

What did you do? – the term used for scolding.

Smile – lifts jowels and wags tail
