Dog Training – The wisdom of allowing a dog to play rough. Recommended or not?

I have a dog and I’m not really sure of the breed, but I think she’s a bird dog. She’s a great dog with me, my wife and our 3 kids.

I enjoy playing rough with her. We wrestle on the ground and she will growl very loudly and wrestle back. She will mock bite me, never biting down or anything, but she’ll get my arm or hand in her mouth. She never gets near my face.

I think this rough play freaks my wife out because the dog gets really aggressive, even though it’s still obviously play. She’ll growl and bark, but all I have to do is hold my palms out and say Brook, Calm and she’ll calm down. Her tail is wagging the whole time during this rough play and she has never hurt me.

Lately, her growling is getting louder, but I just attribute it to the fact that she’s comfortable with the play, not because she’s getting more aggressive or anything.

Anyway, would a dog trainer say that this is dangerous or foolhardy? I’d hate to be training her by doing this and putting my family at risk.

A good book or reference guide is the most important piece of equipment that a dog trainer can have.  There are all types of gizmos and gadgets that are suppose to make dog training easier, from clickers, do retractable leashes, to bark collars, and more…

Most people would never buy a DVD player that didn’t come with a manual on how to get it functioning properly.  But, many people buy a dog but have no reference material to know how to treat their pet and have an obedient and well-trained dog.

What to understand when searching for a dog training ebook.

Regarding the subject of dog training, things can be complicated. A well-made dog training ebook can be a dog owner’s most important piece of material. Having a dog is a responsibility, and ensuring the dog gets correct training is incredibly important. Most people make the mistake of thinking that dog training is common sense. It can be normal for someone to spend hundreds of hours and lots of dollars on a dog’s food, health, and equipment. However, these people neglect to provide their pet decent training. They will mistakenly count on their misguided “common sense” methods.

Just about every dog training ebook that is sold today will come with some form of satisfaction guarantee. These guarantees can vary from 30 days to occasionally over 90 day money-back guarantees. If the dog training ebook you are considering buying does not include some form of a satisfaction guarantee , think carefully about ordering that dog training ebook. If it doesn’t have of some type of quality guarantee probably means that the authors of that specific dog training ebook do not have very much faith in the content of their material.

Many a dog training ebook will include free bonus material . This extra dog training material can make less difficult things from grooming and health, to aggression training and others. Be sure to look over the bonus features that are contained in the dog training ebook. To receive the most value for your buck, find an e-book that offers the most bonus features.

There are different ways in which a dog training ebook can be bought. PDF files are like online books. Some e-books take the form of a .pdf file. PDF files can contain text or images and are available for instant download, and they can be used on your computer, or printed out and taken to read anywhere. Other dog training ebook, and some of the bonus material can be presented in video form. Videos are helpful to ensure that you are training your dog correctly. Videos will give you the bonus of watching someone else act out the motions of good dog training, so you know you are doing it correctly. Some dog training ebook can take the form of audio. Audio books can be convenient for someone that doesn’t have much time to spend reading or watching a video. An audio dog training ebook can be downloaded, burned to a CD, and listen to in the car, on an iPod, or with any other convenient audio method.

It is necessary that any dog gets good training. Dog training is one aspect that can not be neglected when being a dog owner.  Good dog training reference material, like the kind found at www.DogTrainerPro.info can be a big help in this regard.  A correctly trained dog is obedient, non-aggressive , well behaved, and will make a happier environment for both the dog and dog owner.

Training Your Silky Dog:

It is essential to have a dog that knows how to follow the right rules and how to live around your house. To achieve this, dog training must be considered.

Most people think that training a dog is hard and expensive. Moreover, dog training requires a lot of patience and creativity for your dog. We have to remember that dogs may be intelligent but they can not be as intelligent as us. The article provides some of the basic things dog owners need to know so they can do the training themselves. However, to maximize the full potential of your dog, a dog trainer should be hired instead.

What are the differences between a submissive dog and a dominant dog?

A submissive dog normally:

- avoids eye contact.

- rolls on its back.

- crouches down, ears back and tail lowered.

- is comfortable on its back in your arms.

On the other hand, a dominant dog:

- maintains eye contact.

- is unwilling to move from his place on the couch.

- dislikes grooming and petting.

- is possessive of dishes and toys.

Training your silky terriers requires kindness and consistency. Silkys respond actively to praises and to rewards. In addition, they become harsh and unresponsive towards punishments and animosity, respectively.

Trainings with obedience classes can be intensely beneficial in petting your silky terriers. In many dog training schools, classes for puppies are available. Young dogs are taught to get accustomed with other dogs and people using limited trainings. However, there are areas that do not conduct formal obedience training unless the dog is at least half a year old. Always remember that a dog is never too old to benefit from training when a good trainer is available, or if the owner is fully committed to the task.

Here are the recommended ways of training silky terriers:

1. Reiteration or Repetition

Reiteration is the name of the dog training game. In here, dogs are asked to do a task over and over again to achieve mastery. Dog tricks are best learned when reiterated and reinforced through rewards.

2. Persistence

Patience is a virtue that requires you to tolerate hardships. Persistence is trying to be patient for a longer time until a goal is achieved. Apparently, dog training requires a loof persistence from the owner or from the trainer Physical and psychological aspects of the owner and/or the trainer must be sound.

3. Commendation and Emendation

Simply put, if a dog does the right thing, it should be said aloud. Otherwise, the dog should hear, “No, that’s not it!” when the trick is not complete or appropriate for the command given. These words reinforce correct responses and diminish the unwanted ones.

4. Rewarding

Bits of cheese would really be good treats for dogs who responded correctly to a given command. Other food can be bought at pet sores. However, if you are able to get the respect of your pet, commands will be executed even if there are no longer involved treats. Likewise, these things reinforce warranted responses.

If your lifestyle permits being in charge of training your own pet, you can do the training as long as you have gathered enough patience and commitment by:

1. Spending time grooming your dog.

2. Having regular training times on the leash.

3. Stroking its belly and toes and rolling it on its back

4. Hand feeding some food to ensure that the pet is taking treats gently and slowly.

In asserting dominance, always practice consistency and firmness

How much is home dog/puppy training?

heyk asked:

I’m thinking about getting a home dog trainer. How much does it usually cost? I know it depends and the price varies, but what does it generally cost?

I’m thinking about getting a trainer from barkbusters. Anyone heard of them? Are they successful at what they do? Also, in general, do these (dog training) lessons pay off. That is, are they even worth it/ beneficial?

If it helps at all, I live in California.
